Ugh, that is what this weekend was... ugh. Saturday, Theo’s second birthday, was weird. Wifey was super upset especially visiting the cemetery it always bothers her but calms me. I wish it hadn’t been raining. I would have loved to just sit there in the grass and reminisce. We didn’t really get a chance to reminisce which I think is good for us. People tend to avoid the topic of my son as much as possible, even Wifey sometimes, but I think that is because it hurts her to talk about him. We are both glad we had him and glad he has given us the opportunity to have the children we do, but sometimes we need people to acknowledge he existed!
Something that kind of bugged me though, not one person said anything to us on Saturday about him (except on my blog page of course, you guys rock). I wrote “Happy second birthday Theo” with the Love You Forever poem on my personal Facebook and got tons of likes. We have dinner every Saturday night with my wife’s immediate family and not one of them mentioned my son that night. My wife told her close friend she would be busy and couldn’t talk or hang out on Saturday, and guess who texted and called her constantly (because her boyfriend dumped her). It makes me feel like people just want me to forget Theo was a part of our lives. Why? I am okay that he is gone but I don’t want to forget him! Maybe they didn’t know what to say... I don’t know. They could have asked how we were doing even, anything!
There was one tiny happy thing that did happen this weekend though, Wifey and I took our oldest niece to see the last Twilight movie and it was awesome. Yes, I admit, I am a Twilight fan! Wifey and I even named our dog Bella, lol. It was nice getting out to a movie. And it helped me not to dwell too much on feeling excluded.
Anyways, I should get back to the housework, being away on the weekends somehow makes our house a disaster every single Monday!
