Pride weekend is one of my favourite weekends all year! Since I met Wifey we have gone to the Dyke March and then to a huge fireworks show in the evening called the Celebration of Light on the August long weekend. The second time we went my car broke down, a taxi driver nearly killed us, and my wife proposed when the fireworks started! We have missed one or two here and there, somehow our car tends to break down that weekend a lot, but we keep coming back.

This year we took the kids to the Vancouver Dyke March all dressed up in our pride rainbow. We took our traditional picture before the march started for the first time as a family of four. We put the kids in the stroller, linked arms and started marching up Commercial Drive.

About a quarter of the way there Happy Baby asked for “boo” (short for boobie) so I lifted her up and started nursing her. She ended up nursing for the rest of the march and fell asleep in my arms, it has been a long time since she has done that and omg she is heavy! I love the picture Wifey got of me nursing her in the march. My arms were noodles by then though but she let me put her down in the stroller with her sleeping brother.

We then met up with my parents who took the children for the afternoon and evening so Wifey and I could have a seven hour date on the beach to watch the fireworks. It was so amazing to have that time with Wifey to see that we are still the same couple that we were at our first fireworks seven years ago, just more in love! We played Uno, had a barbeque with yummy steak, talked, laughed, and of course pumped milk! Little trick to pumping in public, use a nursing cover! You can see what you are doing but no one else can! We pumped with literally thousands of people sitting around us lol!

It is crazy thinking of all the things we have gone through in the last seven years. We are so close and such a strong couple. We are so lucky to have our two beautiful children and each other. Life can be really hard sometimes, but at least I get to live it with the best person out there, my soul mate.
